Tonight, Ursula K. Le Guin, Cheryl Strayed, and Lidia Yuknavitch are going to be on a panel moderated by the editor-in-chief of Bitch Media, Kjerstin Johnson.
I definitely don’t want to miss that, but that’s not all on my ‘must see’ list this week.
I’m so excited for the Unchaste Readers Series at the Jack London Bar. Jenny Forrester has been curating the series for a while now, and this week is sure not to be a let down. There’s Ariel Gore, Wendy Chin-Tanner, Dena Rash-Guzman, a host of other amazing women who are so talented, there’s just so much going on in one night. For the full-line up, I’m going to make you check out my Notable Portland column link above, but don’t worry, even if you go in knowing nearly nothing, you’re going to leave knowing a lot!
I’m also jazzed for the Peter Heller reading at Powells. I loved his book Dog Stars and I can’t wait to see what his second book, The Artist, has to share.
Anyway, go forth and find a reading that speaks to you! And if you end up seeing a short girl in a teal maxi squirreled away in a corner, feel free to say hello – I can’t wait to meet you and hear what you think of the Portland literary scene!
